Alkagesta joined Energy Trading Week Middle East in Dubai on 2 and 3 September 2026, represented by Tural Huseynov, managing director for investments and asset management.

The forum was built around the Middle East's position as a central energy hub, with sessions on global oil products and gas trading, LNG expansion, systematic trading strategies and the regulatory frameworks that shape cross-border activity.

Speakers examined how national oil companies are scaling trading operations by combining traditional offtake with spot, speculative and arbitrage business, and set out an outlook for oil products markets, trade flows and refinery economics against shifting freight, carbon and policy risk.

Another strand addressed the continued usefulness of technical analysis in volatile commodity markets, including how AI-enhanced and algorithmic models sit alongside classical trading signals.

Compliance was presented as an enabler of sustainable cross-border expansion rather than a brake on it, covering sanctions frameworks, market conduct, regulatory risk and the growing role of regulatory technology.

Alkagesta said the discussions underlined the importance of market intelligence, disciplined risk management and compliance-led execution as it widens its trading footprint.

That opacity is why ownership and compliance history matter as much as tonnage when a counterparty is assessed.
