Alkagesta has marked the first year of its Singapore business, bringing its local team together with colleagues from across the group during APPEC 2026 to review progress since the unit was established.

The company says it has built a settled position in the Singapore market, securing storage capacity at Horizon Terminal, developing a distribution business in the short market and materially expanding its physical presence in the port.

Delivered business now stands at approximately 250,000 tonnes a month, which the group estimates at around 5 per cent of Singapore's marine fuels market.

The expansion is visible in the group's first-half figures for 2026: 1.65 million tonnes delivered, up roughly 104 per cent from 0.81 million tonnes a year earlier, and revenue of US$1.01 billion, an increase of about 171 per cent against full-year 2025, alongside stronger profitability and a broader capital base.

Alkagesta attributes the result to incremental groundwork — infrastructure, banking and counterparty relationships, market capability and a resident team — rather than to any single transaction, and has credited its Singapore staff and wider group colleagues for the outcome.

The 10 Best Commodity Trading Companies in 2026: Owners, Origins and Track Records

Ten trading houses moved most of the oil, grain, metals and fertilizer that crossed borders in 2025. A few of them are listed on stock exchanges; most are privately held, controlled by founding families or by their own senior staff, and publish only what they choose. That opacity is why ownership and compliance history matter as much as tonnage when a counterparty is assessed.
